Essential Job Functions:

• Proficient in creating engineered building systems electrical shop drawings. Specifically, low voltage systems such as Fire Alarm, Security & Video Surveillance systems using the latest AutoCAD version.

• Ability to learn flow calculations for clean extinguishing agent systems such as CO2, FM200, Inergen, & Novec 1230 utilizing proprietary software.

• Review scope of work as outlined in sales contract/estimate, to ensure basic requirements such as Auto Cad architectural drawings are available to submit for permit.

• Review sold projects for clear understanding of scope of work and for any error/omissions; notify Project Manager/Estimator/Salesman and supervisor of discrepancies prior to start of design work.

• Responsible for the completion of shop drawings and as built engineering drawings to include system designed floor plans, riser diagrams, point to point diagrams, calculations, product submittal sheets, sequence of operation and other related documents as required for customer, engineer and AHJ.

• Responsible for submitting drawings, documentation and completed applications for permits to the proper municipalities and/or authorities, with the appropriate transmittal forms. The individual is expected to expedite drawing approval on a timely and consistent basis.

• Responsible for providing material lists and vendor information to Purchasing Agent for equipment procurement on a project by project basis.

• Maintain accurate job costing information regarding engineering hours expended on each project as well as providing feedback to supervisor on overruns and potential overruns to prevent future occurrences of same.

• Review/prioritize workload to meet customer timing requirements; provide accurate backlog and scheduling information by priority to the supervisor.

• Responsible for attending weekly job progress meetings and contributing all necessary data relative to work in progress and upcoming work schedules by priority, status of work out for approval, permit status, & material availability. Note: (position requires permit submittal and tracking)

• Interface with customers, AHJ’s, & plan check personnel as required establishing installation timelines, code requirements per jurisdiction & permit timelines.

• Maintain documentation of project: permit applications; material orders; correspondence; inspection approvals; & warranty items.

• Perform other duties as deemed necessary by supervisor to achieve company goals and objectives.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

• Proficient in AutoCAD latest version.

• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.

• Demonstrate integrity, honesty.

• Proficient in computer skills including all aspects of Microsoft Office.

• Proficient in Outlook for scheduling and contact database

• Demonstrate problem-solving skills.

• Good communication skills (written and verbal). Able to interact with all levels being served.

• Represent the company in a professional, credible manner in speech, written communications and appearance.

• Able to adapt behavior to different people and situations. Be flexible by adjusting interpersonal approaches appropriate to the manager/employee.

• Experience working with the AHJ community.

Experience/Education:

• Required: High School Diploma and Technical Training.

• Preferred: Previous experience in the fire protection industry.

• Preferred: Factory certification in Fire Alarm and Clean Agent.

• 1-2 Years related experience
