Essential Job Functions:

  • Perform routine service as assigned (includes replacing detectors, changing flex loops, replacing initiators, replacing manual pull stations, etc.)
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspection of engineered systems. Including Halon, Industrial Dry Chemical, Clean Agents, and CO2’s. Examine systems to locate problems such as loose connections or broken insulation
  • Test backup batteries, keypad programming, sirens, etc., to ensure proper functioning and to diagnose malfunctions. Repair circuits and sensors
  • Perform panel replacements when necessary. Mount and fasten control panels, door and window contacts, sensors, etc., and attach electrical and telephone wiring in order to connect components
  • Read/follow blueprints, electrical layouts and building plans. Able to determine materials required for jobs
  • Feed wires/cables through access holes, roof spaces, and cavity walls to reach outlets
  • Adjust sensitivity of units based on room structures and manufacturer’s recommendations, using programmable keypads
  • Keep informed of new products and developments. Attend in-house training sessions and manufacturers’ training as assigned and/or required
  • Accurately complete and return all field paperwork on time, including calling in times worked daily
  • Be available for off-hour emergency service calls and the on-call schedule assigned


  • Required: High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Required: Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
  • Required: 1-3 years related experience
  • Preferred: Advanced Technical School Training

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time (up to 4 hours) without a break
  • Position requires bending, twisting, stooping, climbing
  • Must be able to lift 10-50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds occasionally
  • Position requires pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds frequently and 40 pounds occasionally
  • May be exposed to temperature changes, small spaces and confined spaces
  • Ability to distinguish colors and use hands for repetitive fine manipulation frequently

  • Must pass initial and random substance abuse tests
